Well, in the perfect world you use both theories in conjunction, but if you must choose one or the other, utilitarianism is definitely the one to be used. This is the case because it is structured to use a subjective review instead of objective in the case of egoism. A point system given to the quality of happiness can be the only true way to judge what is best for everyone. On the other hand, who is given the right to choose how strong the happiness is in a given situation. How can we say for sure that winning the lottery gives more happiness than getting married? I believe that this is one problem for the Utilitarianism view. Even though the theory uses a rigid point system, the circumstances are different in every situation; therefore it should give different point values depending on the other factors in the situation. Everyone has a different opinion on what deserves the highest point value. For instance, let's say that 50 men think having an endless supply of money is the most important aspect of life, but 50 different men think having a good lover is the most important aspect of life. Depending on which group you ask you will get different answers on determining your point system for Utilitarianism. I believe this is the case across the board. Utilitarianism is a great theory if you can find the right way to determine the point system that it uses. One other issue that arises in this theory is dealing with immoral decisions by saying that it is in the best interest of the entire group. Is it right to cause pain to an individual for the better of the group? By this theory the answer is yes! QUESTIONS 1. How should the rigid point system be determined? 2. The most fatal version of the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum, is transmitted by the mosquito Anopheles gambiae. Malaria infected Cell Disease-transmitting mosquitoes are exposed to a wide range of deadly pathogens, and yet, they are able to resist infection. These invertebrates produce pattern recognition receptors, PRRs, which discern the specific molecular pattern associated with a pathogen. Upon recognition, the PRRs activate the insects immune system, which then isolates the pathogens by confining it within another molecule. The Anopheles gambiae mosquito generates approximately 150 PRR genes, each one with the ability to distinguish the molecular pattern for a particular pathogen. Another insect, the Drosophila melanogaster, more commonly known as the fruit fly, contains a gene, Dscam (short for Down Syndrome Cell Adhesion Molecule), that plays a large role in producing PRRs. A recent study has shown that the fruit flies ability to quarantine bacteria is impaired when the Dscam gene is silenced. The Anopheles gambiae species has a related gene known as AgDscam. In this study, AgDscam was silenced; as a result, the mosquitos ability to resist infections with bacteria and defend against the malaria parasite Plasmodium was severely compromised. .. ... drawing forth the infectious organism through the production of challenge-specific splice form repertoires enriched with receptor molecules, which can easily identify molecules associated with microbial pathogens. The induction of this pathogen is done via immune signaling pathways. This may imply that Dscam in mammalian nervous systems have a more specialized function which utilizes antibodies for patter recognition. Overall, understanding the immune system of the Anopheles Gambiae vector is very important. If we can become familiar with the way its immune system works and how it recognizes Plasmodium, it could become helpful in devising control strategies for the spread of malaria.

He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet†; again there is a reference to a cloud, and God was apparently on this â€Å"cloud†, or vehicle. â€Å"He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind†; one definition of Wagner 8 cherubim is â€Å"a celestial being†, so the description here is quite clear. Choices in Life â€Å"The death sentence and the life sentence are equally immoral, but if I had to choose between the death penalty and imprisonment for life I would certainly choose the second. To live anyhow is better than not at all† (Chekhov 1). In Anton Chekhov’s short story â€Å"The Bet† a lawyer and a banker make a bet about which penalty is more humane. The lawyer says that life imprisonment is more humane. In saying this, the lawyer bets he can stayed locked up in a cell for 15 years without any human contact and it will show it’s more humane. He had no one to talk to and no way to clean up. â€Å"His hair was already streaked with silver, and his emaciated aged – looking face, no one would have believed that he was only forty† (Chekhov 6).
